America’s Got Talent contestant believes wife was murdered

by Shannon Harris on December 23, 2010

The wife of Joe Finley, a contestant on the popular reality competition America’s Got Talent, was found dead in the couple’s hotel soon after he auditioned for the show. Finley claims that the circumstances surrounding her death are suspicious and evidence will soon prove she was murdered, Radar Online reports.

In an interview with the website, Finley says that his wife Laura was raped, murdered and robbed inside their Los Angeles hotel room, and that her body was moved to make it appears as though she fell.

"I believe she was raped, killed and her body was moved, [to the bottom of the staircase] and the scene was staged to make it look as though she'd fallen to her death," he told the news source.

Laura disappeared while Finley, a singer and guitarist, was waiting in line to audition for the show’s judges. He only found out about her death afterward when police showed him a photo of his deceased wife.

Police initially believed that she jumped to her death, but Finley maintains that there were too many unanswered questions for that to be the case. He told interviewers that he could tell just by looking at the photograph that she had been strangled.

Finley claims DNA of the attackers (found under his wife’s fingernails) will prove his theory. He believes it got there in the struggle just before she was killed.

Finley has had to hire private investigators to look into her death because he claims police were not being as forthcoming as possible. He also told the news outlet that police interrogated him for hours, as he was initially ruled a person of interest.

Laura Finley was 48-years-old and, along with Joe, left behind three children.
