Sheen files for divorce, hires sober coach

A week after being taken to the hospital following a drug-fueled rampage through a New York City hotel room, actor Charlie Sheen has filed for divorce from his wife of two years, Brooke Mueller. The New York Daily News reports that the oft-troubled star also told TMZ that he has enlisted the help of a sober coach to help him combat his drug and alcohol problem.

Despite his tumultuous week, Sheen returned to the set of the hit sitcom Two and a Half Men on Monday after production of the show was put on hiatus following the hotel incident. According to those on the set, he was welcomed back with hugs and cheers. While some may find it odd that he was met with a warm reception given his history of substance and domestic abuse, other say his candor about his troubles make it easier to like him.

"Sheen is considered wildly offensive to himself and his family, but he is not seen as a big hypocrite like Mel Gibson," CEO of Media Training Worldwide T.J. Walker told the news source. "Sheen has always admitted that he likes to drink and party, but he can show up on the set with his lines memorized, and he gets the job done."

The embattled actor has had a difficult year. On Christmas, Sheen was arrested on charges of domestic violence following a domestic dispute with Mueller. In February, he was admitted to a rehab facility, and in August he plead guilty to the charges stemming from his Christmas Day arrest and was sentenced to 30 days probation, 30 days in a rehab center and 36 hours of anger management.

The marriage to Mueller was Sheen's third. He was married to actress Denise Richards from 2002 to 2006, and Donna Peele from 1995 to 1996.
