Bieber under investigation for alleged assault

While he may be known to many as a harmless harmonizer, pop-sensation Justin Bieber is allegedly under investigation for assaulting a 12-year-old boy in a Canadian laser tag facility. CBC News reports that the owner of the establishment claims he had to eject the 16-year-old Bieber after he was involved in an altercation with a fellow patron.

The boy suffered minimal injuries and did not require hospitalization. Local police said that though they cannot confirm who they are investigating, they did admit that there is an investigation underway.

"In investigations such as this, we would speak to anyone who may have information that could help the police investigation and of course that would include anyone witnesses, people working at the facility, et cetera," Royal Canadian Mounted Police Cpl. Annie Linteau told reporters.

According to the news source, Bieber entered the facility with two body guards and participated in a game of laser tag with around 12 other kids. Staff said that the singer was targeted specifically, and Internet gossip websites have reported that he was the recipient of "homophobic bullying." Representatives for Beiber say that the accusations that he hit anybody are false.

Regardless of whether or not the Canadian-born signer is found to be in the wrong, his clean-cut image may take a hit as a result of the investigation. Bieber, who is slated to host a reboot of the popualr MTV show Punk'd, has cultivated an approachable image that stems from his emergence as a YouTube sensation.

His widespread popularity has been the cause of safety and crowd control concerns at many of his events. While he has a large number of fans, his meteoric rise through the charts has left him with many critics and he has often been the target of comics.
