Natalie Portman pregnant, engaged to Black Swan choreographer
Representatives confirmed on Monday that Natalie Portman and Black Swan choreographer Benjamin Millepied are engaged and expecting a baby.
"I've always kept my private life private but…I'm indescribably happy and very grateful to have this experience," Portman told Entertainment Weekly.
The couple met in 2009 on the set of the psychological thriller during the eight-hour daily practice sessions that Portman attended in preparation for her critically acclaimed role as Nina Sayers, the lead ballerina in Darren Aronofsky's ballet drama. Millepied directed the training and choreography, and the couple soon began dating.
According to E! Online, Millepied has been studying ballet since the age of eight. He has trained at the School of American Ballet and the New York City Ballet, where he became a principal dancer in 2002 and later choreographed pieces for the company.
Millepied reportedly came onto the set of Black Swan as a choreographer, but later volunteered to play an additional dancing role as the Swan Prince with Portman and supporting actress Mila Kunis, the news source reports.
"I really, really got into it. You're standing up next to those actors, like Natalie, and you're like, 'F-k.' I was blown away – especially by Natalie, who was amazing to watch," Millepied told the news source in regard to his role.
The couple was reportedly spotted together for the first time at a New Year's Eve party one year ago at about the same time Millepied's former live-in ballerina girlfriend of three years was moving out, according to E! Online.
Portman is pregnant for the first time and is due in 2011.
