Joy Behar calls Sharron Angle a ‘bitch’
Joy Behar has been making headlines lately following clashes with prominent Republicans. Earlier this month, her and fellow host of The View Whoopie Goldberg walked off their set during a spat with Fox News commentator Bill O'Reilly, and on Wednesday, Behar took a dig at Nevada's Republican candidate Sharron Angle.
During a discussion about Angle's latest television ad which portray's Senator Harry Reid as soft on immigration, Behar called the ad racist. "I'd like to see her do this ad in the South Bronx. Come here, bitch! Come to New York and do it! " then added that Angle would be "going to hell."
Angle responded with a less direct dig. She reportedly sent Behar a large bouquet of flowers with a note that read, "Joy, raised $150,000 online yesterday. Thanks for your help."
Behar, who read the note on-air for The View, repeated her sentiment towards the Republican. "I don’t know if it’s a sense of humor, but I’d like to point out those flowers were picked by illegal immigrants," Behar said. "And they aren’t voting for you, bitch."
According to Behar, Angle could have used the money she spent on the flowers and donated it to AIDS victims or poor children. "Put your money where your mouth is," Behar commented.
Show founder Barbara Walters berated her co-host. "You were so offensive to many people that they will raise money to whomever you disapprove of."
The ad Behar was referring to on Wednesday challenges Senator Reid's stance on immigration and features Hispanic men carrying weapons and appearing in police mug shots. Pro-immigration groups and Hispanic are reportedly infuriated by the message.
Some have said it will encourage Hispanics to vote against Angle next week. "Sharron Angle has decided to run one of the ugliest anti-illegal immigrants ad campaigns in history," Frank Sharry, executive director of America's Voice, told the Christian Science Monitor.
The latest Rasmussen Report shows Angle leading the Nevada race by 4 percentage points.
