Sheen released from hospital after hotel rampage
After police found him allegedly drunk and naked in his New York hotel room early Tuesday morning, Charlie Sheen was taken to an area hospital for psychiatric evaluation. Sheen apparently trashed the room at Plaza Hotel resulting in several thousand dollars worth of damages. ABC News reports that the embattled actor was released from the hospital on Wednesday.
The incident started after security at the hotel called police about a disorderly man in a room. When authorities arrived, Sheen was reportedly screaming that he had lost his wallet. Police also found an unidentified woman in the room. While original reports claimed he was drunk, Sheen's representatives maintain that he was suffering from an "adverse allergic reaction to some medication."
According to the news source, Sheen had been at dinner with his ex-wife Denise Richards earlier in the evening. Richards was staying with her two daughters in a nearby room, and helped Sheen get to the hospital, but declined to comment on the incident. Richards and Sheen have a rocky past. They were married for four years and have two children together. The couple divorced after Richards claimed he had substance abuse problems and anger issues.
Sheen's trouble's are nothing new. In August he pleaded guilty to threatening his wife during a Christmas Day dispute. He was sentenced to 30 days in rehab and 30 days probation as well as 36 hours in anger management. Despite his run-ins with the law, the Two and a Half Men star is the highest paid actor in television.
"The public still seems to like Charlie Sheen, and it hasn't caught up with him," publicist Howard Bragman told "Good Morning America." "We've seen it so many times that we hardly get fazed when something happens to Charlie Sheen."
